Research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital
I spent the last two years of my college career volunteering my time doing research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and it was one of the best decisions that I ever made for myself. Not only did I learn so much about proposing studies to the IRB, designing studies, doing research, and articulating what we learned into a research paper, but I grew in a professional manner as well. I met people who were able to give me very wise words of advice, people who have been exactly where I am standing and have felt the pressure of graduation and the real world approaching. From this experience, I feel more prepared for my graduation and for my life beyond my time at the University of Cincinnati. I am now more confident in what I want to do with my life after I earn my first degree. While I was doing my research, I worked under Dr. Ryan Adams. Dr. Adams taught me how to develop this study, taught me how to examine the results, and he helped me in writing this paper. This was one of the most challenging experiences that I have had, there was a lot to think about and there was a lot that I never would have thought of without Dr. Adams, but in the end we created a research paper that will be submitted for publication. I have attached that paper to this page and I must say that I have worked harder on this paper than I have on any other paper over the course of my educational career. I hope that when you read this paper you will be able to see all of the late nights, hard days, and all of the editing and rewriting that it took to create such a paper. I hope that when you read this paper you can also see my passion for my field and my desire to succeed.
